    Eyelid surgery in Colorado, (technically called blepharoplasty) is a procedure to remove fat--usually along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The eyes are one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Some people refer to the eyes as the "windows of the soul." They certainly are the focal point of the face and increased laxity of the skin in this area can portray a tired, sad or melancholy appearance. Eyelid surgery primarily gives us a more rested appearance by reducing the excess skin and fatty tissue which can develop in both the upper and lower eyelids with aging.

Individuals show changes in the eyes at varying ages. The average person may have enough laxity in the upper eyelid at age 25 - 30 that they can obtain significant and noticeable improvement with this procedure. Lower eyelid surgery is usually performed about 5 years later. However, our individual anatomy in this area varies so much that a good rule of thumb on the time to seek surgical improvement is, for females, when it becomes difficult to place eye shadow on the upper eyelids, and for men and women, when a good night's sleep does not get rid of the puffiness in the lower eyelids
