Dear
Dr. Raval
Sometimes
the decision to opt for a cosmetic improvement can take even
the person who does it by surprise. It's that private a decision. And, at the skilled hands of Dr. Jeff Raval, it's a public improvement.
The
day I decided to improve the look of my tired eyes, was the
morning I dressed for work as usual and critically assessed
why it was that I even bothered to put on eye shadow. I was,
quite possibly, the only person who knew I was wearing it
....simply because my eyes had taken on a puffy, tired look
in the last two years. If anyone else noticed, they weren't
saying so.
The
surgery itself, performed under local anesthesia, was expertly
painless. I specifically scheduled my next two days to religiously
keep bags of frozen peas on my eyes in order to accelerate
recovery. Within a week, I was comfortable being seen in public.
Within two weeks, I started to receive complements about my
"rested" appearance, a factor of the surgery, not
sleep.
The
highest compliment was paid to me by nail technician. For
eight years, I've sat across from her-at a distance of only
two feet-every two weeks to have my nails done. At that proximity
and flaw is immediately apparent. When I showed up for my
next appointment, she offered: "I would never have said
you needed to have that done, but you did. The difference
is incredible."
One
of my personal hurdles approaching eyelid surgery was my concern
that others would be critical. I imagined some friends and
family would protest or call my decision vain. What I found
was that friends 15 years younger than me instantly jumped
on the idea as the next thing they'd do for themselves. Women
25 years older than me asked if it was too late for them to
do the same.
I
was profoundly pleased with Dr. Raval's attentiveness to my
comfort and recovery. He and his staff were extraordinarily
caring and their follow-up contact communication made my recovery
all that much swifter.
Just
two nights ago (three months after surgery), I had opportunity
to encounter a woman in my same profession. We were familiar
with each other's work, but had never met before. She took
a look at me and said, "You look so young". Have
you done something because if you have, I want to do the same.
" I told her about my eye surgery and she said, "I
have friends who have had eye surgery and their eyes look
like this...too tight." She pulled back at the sides
of her own eyes.
Perhaps
that's the highest compliment I could receive. Clearly, my
results don't appear like I've had surgery. My eyes don't
look like a mistake. And most definitely, it wasn't.
Thank
you,
-
