An even, clear, refreshed complexion is desired by many. If you are unhappy with your skin due to uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, aging skin, and more, IPL Photorejuvenation, also known as intense pulsed light therapy, may be right for you. Our skincare experts at FacesFirst are dedicated to providing you with effective IPL treatments for beautiful, rejuvenated skin.
What is IPL Photorejuvenation?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photorejuvenation is a skin treatment that can be done to correct sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike laser treatments, intense pulsed light technology uses multiple wavelengths of pulsating light, allowing for the treatment of a range of skin issues simultaneously.
Intense pulsed light can be used to treat a large variety of skin concerns and skin conditions, including:
- Acne
- Birthmarks
- Port wine stains
- Age spots
- Broken blood vessels
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Redness from rosacea
- Scars
- Unwanted hair
Dye-VL at FacesFirst
At FacesFirst, we offer Dye-VL, which is an advanced module of the Harmony XL Pro system, designed to treat pigmented lesions and other skin concerns.
This cutting-edge treatment utilizes a narrow band of pulsating light, making it a technologically advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy. The precision of Dye-VL allows our skin care specialists to target specific areas with irregular skin tone without damaging surrounding tissue, making it particularly effective for hard-to-reach areas. The treatment works by damaging melanin in the skin to reduce darkened areas, addressing issues such as sun damage, age spots, and hyperpigmentation.
Dye-VL also incorporates In-Motion technology, which applies heat more gradually, resulting in a more comfortable procedure for patients.
Who is a Good Candidate for IPL Photorejuvenation?
Individuals who wish to treat sun damaged or blotchy skin, or those with wrinkles, freckles, or large pores may be able to benefit from IPL Photorejuvenation. Those with lighter skin tones are often the best candidates, as those with naturally dark skin can sometimes experience pigmentation changes after IPL treatments. It is also recommended that women who are pregnant postpone their IPL treatment until after they give birth. A consultation with our skin specialist can help to determine if this treatment is right for you.

What to Expect During Your IPL Photorejuvenation Treatment
An IPL treatment is fairly quick, only taking 30 minutes to complete. To begin your treatment, you will be given protective eyewear to keep your eyes safe from the light energy. Next, a smooth cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area to allow the IPL device to move easily across the skin and ensure your comfort. To begin treatment, intense light pulses will penetrate deep into the skin to cause the production of collagen and blood vessels to constrict. In turn, age lines, hyperpigmentation, and redness will diminish.
Most patients require a series of five IPL treatments spaced three weeks apart to see optimal results.
IPL Photorejuvenation Results
There is minimal recovery time associated with IPL Photorejuvenation since there is very little damage done to the skin. Patients may experience mild redness and swelling, which should fade within a week. After treatments, patients should take extra care to avoid direct sun exposure for several days, and apply sunblock for at least two weeks to ensure desired results.
