A youthful brow frames your eyes and face in an ideal way. It creates the foundation of a strong facial structure and gives you a more vibrant appearance. Have you examined your eyes lately? Have you taken a look at your facial shape?
A youthful brow has fullness under the skin along the upper rim, and arcs above the rim towards the sides. But with age, each eyebrow and eyelid can look deflated and cause a hollow appearance in the brow area. Is your brow drooping? Is it lacking that feminine arch? Are “frown lines” troubling you? Do you have a heavy brow or excess skin that falls over your eyes? A brow lift may help! Schedule a consultation by calling 303.744.2300.
What is a Brow Lift?
At FacesFirst, an endoscopic brow lift is one of our most popular surgical techniques to address drooping eyebrows. This cosmetic procedure uses an endoscope to reposition or remove underlying tissues and muscles. It also lifts low or sagging brows into a more youthful position. It’s done using smaller incisions in the hairline. The brow lift procedure repositions the sagging eyebrows and relaxes the frowning forehead muscles, creating a young and smooth forehead and removing signs of aging. The advantage of this facial plastic surgery procedure is that small incisions allow you to heal very quickly with a minimal amount of discomfort.
Dr. Picerno and Dr. Cote are experts in facial cosmetic surgery and hide incisions well in the hair, so incisions are not detectable. No hair has to be cut or shaved, and all natural facial expressions are preserved. After all, we want people to notice you, not the work you have done. With over 30 years of combined experience, FacesFirst knows how to perform brow lift surgery and provide brow lift patients with natural-looking, lasting results.
Look like you, but rejuvenated.
What Other Procedures Can Be Combined with the Brow Lift?
A brow and forehead lift done at FacesFirst, at either our Denver or Lone Tree locations, helps decrease the excessive muscle movement in the forehead as well as repositions the eyebrows into a more natural position. In some cases, laser resurfacing or Botox may be performed simultaneously, or at a later date, to help further rejuvenate the brow and remove wrinkling in the upper face. Additionally, many patients combine brow lift surgery with upper eyelid surgery (or upper blepharoplasty) to address sagging upper eyelids. FacesFirst can help you determine which facial rejuvenation procedures are best combined with your brow lift surgery in order to achieve a refreshed appearance.
Types of Brow Lifts
At FacesFirst in Denver and Lone Tree, we offer several types of brow lift procedures to meet the needs of different facial structures, aesthetic goals, and lifestyles. Each approach has its own benefits, and your surgeon will help you determine the best option for your unique anatomy.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
The most commonly performed brow lift at FacesFirst, the endoscopic brow lift uses several tiny incisions hidden within the hairline. A small camera (endoscope) allows the surgeon to reposition the forehead tissue with precision, resulting in minimal scarring, faster healing, and natural-looking elevation of the brows.
Classic (Coronal) Brow Lift
Also known as the traditional or open brow lift, this method involves a longer incision across the scalp from ear to ear (coronal incision). While less commonly performed today due to longer recovery and a more invasive approach, it may still be appropriate for patients with significant sagging or deeper forehead wrinkles.
Trichophytic Brow Lift
This technique involves an incision just at or behind the hairline, allowing the surgeon to lift the brow while preserving or even lowering the hairline. It’s a good option for patients with a high forehead who want to avoid further elevation of the hairline.
Lateral Brow Lift (Temporal Brow Lift)
This minimally invasive lift targets the outer third of the brow, helping to correct mild sagging and create a more refreshed eye area. It is often performed in conjunction with facelifts or blepharoplasty for a more comprehensive rejuvenation.
Direct Brow Lift (Midforehead Brow Lift)
Typically used for older patients or men with heavy brow ptosis, this method involves incisions directly above the brows or in forehead creases. It offers effective lift with less tissue dissection but does leave a visible scar that is usually well-camouflaged within natural lines.
Brow Lift Candidates
You are likely a good candidate for the brow lift if you are bothered by signs of aging, such as sagging brows or worry lines. You should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about your results. Drs. Picerno and Cote will go over your medical history during your brow lift consultation.
How is the Brow Lift Performed?
Surgical brow lift procedures are often performed using general or local anesthesia. Once incisions are created, the forehead skin and underlying tissues can be elevated and lifted to a more upright position. Your facial plastic surgery procedure may also involve removing excess skin. Once the final result is created, the incisions are closed, and you will enter your recovery period.
Brow Lift Recovery
The brow lift requires a short recovery period of one to two weeks. During this time, you should avoid strenuous exercise and follow the aftercare steps in caring for your surgical site. You’ll also want to keep your head elevated. You may experience discomfort which can be managed with pain medication. To reduce swelling, your plastic surgeon will prescribe medications as well. Within a few weeks, you should begin to see results with a more lifted brow and forehead, a more youthful appearance, and a reduction in forehead wrinkles. With an appropriate anti-aging regimen, a brow lift can last for many years to come.
Brow Lift Results
Brow lift results are typically visible soon after a surgical procedure, with noticeable improvements in brow position and a more refreshed, youthful appearance. While some swelling and bruising may temporarily mask the outcome, most patients see continued enhancement over the following weeks as healing progresses. Final results are typically revealed between 3 to 6 months, offering long-lasting rejuvenation that opens up the eyes and smooths the forehead, helping patients look more rested and naturally uplifted.
