Brow Lift Recovery: What to Expect

The eyebrows are an often wrongly overlooked aspect of the face. Brows frame the eyes and face in an ideal way, creating the framework for a youthful and vibrant appearance. If you are experiencing lax skin on the forehead or brow area which makes you look older than you feel, a brow lift may be an effective solution. If you are considering a brow lift, it is important to educate yourself regarding the procedure and what to expect.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also sometimes referred to as a forehead lift is done to achieve a more youthful appearance in the forehead and brow region. Individuals choose to undergo this procedure for its many benefits, including the reduction of wrinkles and lines horizontally across the forehead, on the bridge of the nose or between eyes, improvement of frown lines, and raising of sagging brows that are hooding the upper lids for more youthful brow position.

At FacesFirst, we offer endoscopic brow lift, which is less invasive and has a quicker recovery time than traditional brow lift surgery. During this procedure, small incisions are created in the hairline, through which an endoscope is used to reposition or remove underlying tissues and muscles. This lifts the brows into a more youthful position.

What to Expect During Brow Lift Recovery

A brow lift requires a short recovery period of one week to 10 days. Many patients will be able to return to remote work within 3-5 days, while those with more physical jobs should wait at least one week. During recovery, you should avoid strenuous exercise and follow the provided aftercare steps in caring for your surgical site. You’ll also want to keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.

You may experience some mild discomfort which can be managed with pain medication. Your surgeon will instruct you when it’s safe to remove your bandages, which is usually one to three days after surgery. You could experience numbness or a tingling sensation during the first few weeks after your surgery, but this usually fades over time. Following your physician’s instructions is essential to the success of your surgery.

Your FacesFirst surgeon will schedule multiple follow-up visits following your brow lift procedure, the first of which should be 7 to 10 days after the procedure.

Brow Lift Results

Within a few weeks, you should begin to notice results of a more lifted brow and forehead, a more youthful appearance, and a reduction in forehead wrinkles. However, it may take up to six months for your forehead to completely heal after a brow lift procedure. With an appropriate anti-aging regimen, a brow lift can last for many years to come.
